Hardik Pandya's all-round heroics and MS Dhoni's half-century sets up to India cruising to via DLS method 26-run victory over Australia and take a 1-0 lead in a rain-truncated game of the first ODI.

Match Stats : 
  • India's 281 was their highest score against Australia at Chepauk in One-day international, previous highest total was 269.
  • Australia's 137 was their third lowest score against India in a losing side in One-day internationals.
  • 118 : MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya set up the second highest sixth-wicket partnership for India against Australia in One-day international and India's joint tenth highest sixth-wicket stand in ODIs, jointly 118-run stand held by between Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni at Faridabad in 2006.

India scored 281-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Hardik Pandya hammered a 83 off 66-balls, MS Dhoni struck 79 off 88-balls including 4-fours & 2-sixes.

Kedar Jadhav scored 40 off 54-balls including 5-fours, Bhuvneshwar Kumar cracked a unbeaten 32 off 30-balls included five-fours and Rohit Sharma 28.

Australia best bowler by Nathan Coulter-Nile picked up 3-wickets three-wicket, Marcus Stoinis took two wickets and one for Adam Zampa - James Faulkner.

Australia scored 137-9 in 21 overs - due to rain reduced target of 164 in 21-overs - top scorer by Glenn Maxwell blasted a 39 off 18-balls including 4-sixes & 3-fours with strike rate of 216.66.

James Faulkner scored a unbeaten 32 off 25-balls including one-six & a four and David Warner 25.

India best bowler by Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 3-wickets 3-wickets for 30-runs in 5-overs, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav both took two-wickets and one for Jasprit Bumrah - Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Hardik Pandya named Player of the match for his all-round performance to took two important wickets of Steven Smith (1) and Travis Head (5) after smashing a quick-fire 83-runs knocked off facing 66-balls including 5-sixes & 5-fours with strike rate of 125.75.
