Ross Taylor's record-breaking century, Kane Williamson and James Neesham's half-centuries before Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner's combined 5-wickete helped to New Zealand narrow 6-run victory over South Africa, despite a Dwaine Pretorius' assault and level the series with 1-1 in a tight-game of the second ODI.

  • 61 : Dwaine Pretorius and Andile Phehlukwayo set up the record ninth-wicket partnership for South Africa against New Zealand in One-day international, previously held by the 26-run stand between Faf du Plessis and Morne Morkel at Dhaka in the 2011 World Cup and South Africa's joint third highest ninth-wicket stand in ODIs, jointly 61-run stand held by between Shaun Pollock and Johan Botha against Australia at Melbourne (Docklanda) in 2006.
  • New Zealand's 289 was their third highest score against South Africa in One-day internationals.
  • South Africa's 283 was their joint ninth highest score against New Zealand in One-day internationals.

New Zealand scored 289-4 in 50 overs with top scorer by Ross Taylor 102 not out - which was his 17th ODI hundred and his first century against South Africa in ODIs.

James Neesham hammered a unbeaten 71 off 57-balls including 6-fours with strike rate of 124.56, Kane Williamson struck 69 off 75-balls included six boundaries and Dean Brownlie scored 34 off 44-balls with six-fours.

South Africa best bowler by Dwaine Pretorius took 2-wickets and one for Wayne Parnell - Imran Tahir.

South Africa scored 283-9 in 50 overs with top scorer by Quinton de Kock struck 57 off 65-balls including 6-fours.

Dwaine Pretorius hammered a 50 off 27-balls including 4-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 185.18, AB de Villiers scored 45 off 49-balls included 2-fours.

JP Duminy hit 34 off 44-balls including 3-fours, Andile Phehlukwayo cracked a unbeaten 29 off 34-balls included 4-fours and David Miller 28.

New Zealand best bowler by Trent Boult picked up 3-wickets, Mitchell Santner takes 2-wickets, Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Southee and Ish Sodhi each took one-wickets.

Ross Taylor named player of the match for his masterclass unbeaten 102-runs knocked off facing 110-balls including eight boundaries.
