West Indian star batsman Chris Gayle produced a sensational power-hitting batting performance to smashed a record-breaking 215-runs knocked off facing 147-balls including 16-sixes and 10-fours with strike rate of 146.26 helped to West Indies set up the their record total of 372 against Zimbabwe in the 15th match of a World Cup.
* Chris Gayle became the first batsman to score a double-century in World Cup history.
* Chris Gayle became the first West Indies' batsman to score a double-hundred in One-day international cricket history and overall the fourth player in ODIs after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma has made two such scores.
* Chris Gayle hammered a 138-ball fastest double-century ever in One-day international cricket history, surpassing the previous record of 140-ball double-hundred held by Virender Sehwag against West Indies at Indore in 2011.
* Chris Gayle plundered 215 - the highest score by any batsman in World Cup history, surpassing the previous record of 188 held by Gary Kirsten against UAE at Rawalpindi in the 1996 World Cup and the third highest-score by any batsman in ODIs.
* 16 : Chris Gayle hit the most sixes in an innings in World Cup history, surpassing the previous record of 9-sixes by David Miller against same opponent at Hamilton in this World Cup and the joint most sixes hit by a batsman in ODIs, jointly with Rohit Sharma and AB de Villiers.
