David Warner's record-breaking 178, Steve Smith's classy 95 and Glenn Maxwell's whirlwind 39-ball 88 set up to Australia's record 275-run victory over Afghanistan in a one-sided game of the 26th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

  • Australia's 275-run win was their largest victory by terms of runs in One-day international cricket history, previous biggest win by 256-runs against Namibia at Potchefstroom in the 2003 World Cup and the second biggest win in ODIs after New Zealand's 290-run win against Ireland at Aberdeen in 2008.
  • Australia's 275-run win was the largest victory by terms of runs in World Cup history, surpassing the previous record of 257-run win by India against Bermuda at Port of Spain in the 2007 World Cup.
  • Afghanistan's 275-run defeat was the second worst by margin of runs in ODIs after Ireland's 290-run defeat against New Zealand at Aberdeen in 2008 and the worst defeat by margin of runs in World Cup history, surpassing the previous biggest defeat by Bermuda's 257-run against India at Port of Spain in the 2007 World Cup.

Australia scored record total of 417-6 in 50 overs with top scorer by David Warner hammered a 178 off 133-balls - which was his 4th ODI hundred, his first century against Afghanistan in ODIs.

Steve Smith struck 95 off 98-balls - who fell 5-run short of his century - including 8-fours and a six, Glenn Maxwell hammered a 88 off 39-balls included 7-sixes & 6-fours with strike rate of 225.64.

Afghanistan best bowler by Shapoor Zadran, Dawlat Zadran both captured two-wickets, Navroz Mangal and Hamid Hassan each took one wickets.

Afghanistan scored 142 for all-out in 37.3 overs with top scorer by Navroz Mangal struck 33 off 35-balls including 2-fours and 2-sixes, Najibullah Zadran scored 24 off 31-balls included one-four and a six.

Australia best bowler by Mitchell Johnson claimed 4-wickets for 21-runs from 7.3 overs, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood both took 2-wickets and one for Michael Clarke - Glenn Maxwell.

David Warner named Player of the match for his sensational batting performance of scoring 178-runs off 133-balls including 19-fours and 5-sixes with strike rate of 133.83.
