Henry Nicholls' heroic 82, Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner's each 48 runs before Trent Boult's four-for and Grant Elliott's three-for helped to New Zealand comprehensive 70-run victory over Pakistan and take a 1-0 lead in the first ODI.

New Zealand's 70-run win was their fifth largest victory by terms of runs against Pakistan in One-day internationals. 79 : Henry Nicholls and Mitchell Santner set up the fifth highest seventh-wicket partnership for New Zealand against Pakistan in One-day Internationals. 73* : Matt Henry and Mitchell McClenaghan set up the record ninth-wicket partnership for New Zealand against Pakistan in One-day International, previously held by the 59-run stand between Jeremy Coney and John Bracewell at Nottingham in the 1983 Prudential World Cup. New Zealand's 280 was their sixth highest score against Pakistan at their home venue in One-day internationals. Pakistan's 210 was their second lowest score at Basin Reserve in One-day internationals. New Zealand lost their top six batsmen wickets for just 99-runs - which was their joint fifth worst six-wicket collapse against Pakistan at their home venue in One-day internationals.

New Zealand 99-6 to scored 280-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Henry Nicholls 82, Matt Henry hammered a unbeaten 48 off 30-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - including 4-sixes & 4-fours with strike rate of 160.

Mitchell Santner 48 off 63-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - including five boundaries and Mitchell McClenaghan retired hurt for 31 off 18-balls included 3-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 172.22.

Pakistan best bowler by Mohammad Amir picked up 3-wickets for 28-runs in 8.1-overs, Anwar Ali takes 3-wickets and Mohammad Irfan took 2-wickets.

Pakistan scored 210 for all-out in 46 overs with top scorer by Babar Azam struck 62 off 76-balls including six boundaries.

Mohammad Hafeez scored 42 off 56-balls including one-six & a four, Sarfraz Ahmed hit 30 off 29-balls included 3-fours, Azhar Ali 19 and Anwar Ali 16.

New Zealand best bowler by Trent Boult claimed a 4-wickets for 40-runs in 9-overs including a maiden, Grant Elliott picked up 3-wickets, Kane Williamson, Corey Anderson and Mitchell Santner each took one-wickets.

Henry Nicholls named Player of the match for his magnificent 82-runs knocked off facing 111-balls including seven boundaries.
