Amila Aponso's four-for and Thisara Perera's three-for after Half-centuries from Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera helped to Sri Lanka's record 82-run victory over Australia, despite a James Faulkner's hat-trick and level the series 1-1 in the second ODI.

  • James Faulkner became the sixth Australian bowler to take a hat-trick in One-day internationals after Bruce Reid, Anthony Stuart, Brett Lee, Daniel Christian and Clint McKay.
  • Sri Lanka's 82-run win was their largest victory by terms of runs against Australia in One-day internationals, previously biggest win was 79 at Sydney in 2003.
  • Sri Lanka's 288 was their fifth highest score against Australia in One-day international and It is their highest total against Australia at R Premadasa Stadium in ODIs, previous highest was 234 in 1996.
  • Australia's 206 was their ninth highest score against Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in One-day internationals.
  • 125 : Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal set up the joint second highest third-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Australia in One-day internationals, jointly 125-run stand held by between Asanka Gurusinha and Aravinda de Silva at Lahore in the 1996 World Cup.
  • 103 : Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera set up the second highest sixth-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Australia in One-day internationals.

Sri Lanka scored 288 for all-out in 48.5 overs with top scorer by Mendis struck a run-a-ball 69-runs including 9-fours, Angelo Mathews 57.

Kusal Perera hit 54 off 53-balls including 5-fours & a six and Dinesh Chandimal 48 off 57-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - included 2-fours & a six.

Australia best bowler by Adam Zampa, James Faulkner, Mitchell Starc each picked up 3-wickets and one for Nathan Lyon.

Australia scored 206 for all-out in 47.2 overs with top scorer by Matthew Wade struck 76 off 88-balls including 3-fours.

Travis Head scored 31 off 48-balls including 3-fours, Steve Smith 30 off 33-balls included 5-fours and George Bailey 27.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Akila Aponso claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 18-runs in 9.2-overs, Thisara Perera picked up 3-wickets, Angelo Mathews took 2-wickets and one for Seekkuge Prasanna.

Angelo Mathews named Player of the match for his all-round performance to took 2-wickets for 17-runs in 6-overs after scoring a brilliant 57-runs knocked off facing 60-balls including 2-sixes and a four.
