All-round display from Grant Elliott's fifty with three wickets and Ross Taylor's half-century helped to New Zealand comfortable seven-wicket victory over Pakistan, despite a Shahid Afridi's assault and take a 1-0 lead in a one-sided game of the first ODI.

  • Shahid Afridi hammered a 21-ball his third joint seventh fastest fifty for Pakistan in One-day International and his joint second fastest fifty against New Zealand in ODIs.

  • 112* : Ross Taylor and Grant Elliott set up the second highest fourth-wicket partnership for New Zealand against Pakistan in One-day internationals.
  • Pakistan's 210 was their second lowest score at Westpac Stadium in One-day internationals.

Pakistan scored 210 for all-out in 45.3 overs with top scorer by Shahid Afridi blasted a 67 off 29-balls including 9-fours & 3-sixes with strike rate of 231.03.

Misbah-ul-Haq struck 58 off 87-balls included 4-fours & 2-sixes, Haris Sohail 23 and Ahmed Shehzad 15.

New Zealand best bowler by Grant Elliott 3-26, Trent Boult, Kyle Mills, Corey Anderson each took two-wickets and one for Adam Milne.

New Zealand chased 213-3 in 39.3 overs with top scorer by Grant Elliott 64 not out, Ross Taylor cracked a unbeaten 59 off 81-balls including 4-fours.

Martin Guptill hit 39 off 48-balls including seven-fours, Tom Latham scored 23 off 28-balls included five-fours and Brendon McCullum struck 17 off 12-balls with 4-fours.

Pakistan best bowler by Shahid Afridi, Bilawal Bhatti and Mohammad Irfan each took one-wickets.

Grant Elliott named Player of the match for his match-winning all-round performance to scored a unbeaten 64-runs knocked off facing 68-balls including 8-fours after picked up 3-wickets for 26-runs in 4.3-overs.
