Shoaib Malik's stunning comeback half-century led to Pakistan convincing five-wicket victory over Bangladesh and take a 1-0 lead in the first T20I.

Pakistan chased 142 was their second highest successful run-chase against Bangladesh in T20 internationals. Bangladesh's 141 was their fifth lowest score in the completed innings against Pakistan in T20 internationals. 71 : Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Naim set up the record first-wicket partnership for Bangladesh against Pakistan in T20 international, previously held by the 41-run stand between Tamim Iqbal and Nazimuddin at Karachi in 2008 and Bangladesh's joint second highest opening stand in T20Is, jointly 71-run stand held by between Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar against Sri Lanka at Colombo (RPS) at in 2017. Shoaib Malik became the eighth Pakistan batsman to score a fifty or more runs against Bangladesh in T20 internationals.

Bangladesh scored 141-5 in 20 overs with top scorer by Mohammad Naim scored 43 off 41-balls including 3-fours and two-sixes, Tamim Iqbal scored 39 and Mahmudullah 19.

Pakistan best bowler by Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf each took one-wickets.

Pakistan chased 142-5 in 19.3 overs with top scorer by Shoaib Malik 58 not out, Ahsan Ali struck 36 off 32-balls including four-fours, Mohammad Hafeez 17 and Iftikhar Ahmed 16.

Bangladesh best bowler by Shafiul Islam picked up two-wickets, Al-Amin Hossain, Aminul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman each took one-wickets.

Shoaib Malik named Player of the match for his match-winning unbeaten 58-runs off 45-balls including five boundaries.
