Magnificent David Warner's record-breaking career-best 163 before David Hussey's four-for, Brett Lee and Shane Watson's three-for helped to Australia narrow 15-run victory over Sri Lanka, despite a fighting innings from Nuwan Kulasekara's 73 and take a 1-0 lead in the best of 3-finals of the first final of a Commonwealth Bank Series.

  • David Warner's 163 was the sixth highest score for Australia in One-day international and the highest-score by an Australian batsman against Sri Lanka in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 154 held by Adam Gilchrist at Melbourne in 1999.
  • 136 : David Warner and Matthew Wade set up the eighth highest first-wicket partnership for Australia against Sri Lanka in ODIs.
  • Australia's 321 was their fifth highest score against Sri Lanka in ODIs.
  • 104 : Upul Tharanga and Nuwan Kulasekara set up the record seventh-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Australia in ODIs, previously held by the 90-run stand between Roshan Mahanama and Upul Chandana at Adelaide in 1999 and the Sri Lanka's third highest seventh-wicket stand in ODIs.

Australia scored massive total of 321-6 in 50 overs with top scorer by David Warner cracked a career-best 163 off 157-balls - which was his 1st ODI hundred.

Matthew Wade struck 64 off 72-balls including four-fours & a six, Michael Clarke cracked a 37 off 25-balls included 5-fours with strike rate of 148.

Shane Watson scored 21 off 25-balls including a boundary and Michael Hussey hammered a 19 off 10-balls contained 2-sixes with strike rate of 190.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Dhammika Prasad captured two-wickets, Rangana Herath, Nuwan Kulasekara, Farveez Maharoof and Lasith Malinga each took one-wickets.

Sri Lanka scored 306 for all-out in 49.2 overs with top scorer by Nuwan Kulasekara hammered a 73 off 43-ball including 7-fours and 3-sixes with strike rate of 169.76.

Upul Tharanga cracked a 60 off 67-balls included 3-fours, Kumar Sangakkara struck 42 off 49-ball with four boundaries, Dhammika Prasad hit a unbeaten 31 off 21-balls contained 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 147.61 and Tillakaratne Dilshan struck 27 off 22-balls with 5-fours.

Australia best bowler by David Hussey claimed 4-wickets for 43-runs in 8-overs, Shane Watson picked up 3-wickets for 33-runs in 9.3-overs and Brett Lee captured three-wickets.

David Warner named Player of the match for his record-breaking batting performance to smashed a career-best 163-runs knocked off facing 157-balls including 13-fours and 2-sixes.
