Adam Gilchrist's half-century and Andrew Symonds' powerful century before Brad Hogg's four-for and Mitchell Johnson's double-wicket maiden over helped to Australia narrow 18-run victory over India, despite a masterclass fifties from Sachin Tendulkar - Sourav Ganguly and took an unassailable 4-1 lead to seal the series in a high-scoring game of the sixth ODI.

  • Australia's 18-run win was their joint sixth smallest victory by terms of runs against India in One-day internationals, it is their 4th time win by 4-runs against India in ODIs.
  • Australia's 317 was their seventh highest score against India in One-day international and the sixth highest total at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in One-day internationals.
  • India's 299 was their joint tenth highest score against Australia at their home venue in One-day internationals and It is their fourth highest total at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in One-day internationals.
  • 140 : Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar set up the second highest first-wicket partnership for India against Australia in One-day internationals.
  • This was the 52nd time Australia scored 300-plus score in ODIs, the most by any team; Pakistan and India are next with 41 each.
  • Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting both went past 1500 ODI runs against India, becoming the first Australians to completed 1500 runs against India in ODIs. At the end of the game, Adam Gilchrist has 1549 runs against India, 38 more than Ricky Ponting's 1511.
  • Ricky Ponting also became the first Australian to go past 1500 against two teams - he already aggregates 1515 against New Zealand.

Australia scored 317-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Andrew Symonds 107 not out - which was his 6th ODI hundred and his first century against India in ODIs.

Adam Gilchrist cracked a 51 off 47-balls including 8-fours, Ricky Ponting 49 off 44-balls - who fell one-run short of his half-century - included 7-fours & a six, James Hopes scored 39 off 30-balls including 5-fours.

Brad Haddin hit 25 off 53-balls including a boundary , Brad Hodge scored 20 off 28-balls included 4-fours and Bret Lee 17.

India best bowler by Zaheer Khan takes two-wickets, Murali Karthik, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan and Sreesanth each took one-wickets.

India scored 299-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Saurav Ganguly struck 86 off 111-balls including 7-fours and 2-sixes, Sachin Tendulkar cracked a run-a-ball 72-runs included 9-fours and a six.

Robin Uthappa hammered a 44 off 28-ball including 5-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 157.14, Irfan Pathan scored a run-a-ball 29-runs included 3-fours & 2-sixes and MS Dhoni scored 26.

Australia best bowler by Brad Hogg claimed a 4-wicket haul for 49-runs in 10-overs, Mitchell Johnson took two-wickets and one for James Hopes.

Andrew Symonds named Player of the match for his powerful batting performance to smashed a scintillating unbeaten 107-runs knocked off facing 88-balls including 9-fours and 4-sixes with strike rate of 121.59.
