* In 38 previous ODI innings in Australia, Sachin Tendulkar had never scored a hundred; in 11 previous one-day internationals against Australia in Sydney, India had never won.
Australia scored 239-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Matthew Hayden struck 82 off 88-balls including 10-fours, Michael Hussey cracked a 45 off 67-balls included two boundaries, Andrew Symonds scored 31 and Brad Hogg 23 not out.
India best bowler by Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh both took two-wickets, Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma and Irfan Pathan each took one-wickets.
India chased 242-4 in 45.5 overs with top scorer by Sachin Tendulkar 117 not out - which was his 42nd ODI hundred, Rohit Sharma struck 66 off 87-balls including six-fours, Robin Uthappa scored 17 and MS Dhoni 12 not out.
Australia best bowler by James Hopes took two-wickets and one for Brad Hogg.
Sachin Tendulkar named Player of the match for his match-winning magnificent unbeaten 117-runs knocked off facing 120-balls including 10-fours.
