South Africa holds nerve to dramatic one-wicket victory over Sri Lanka, despite a Lasith Malinga's magical hat-trick including a four-ball four-wickets in the World Cup Super Eights match.

Match Stats : 
  • Lasith Malinga became the first ever bowler to claimed a 4-wickets in 4-balls in ODI cricket history.
  • Lasith Malinga becoming the second Sri Lankan bowler to claimed hat-trick after Chaminda Vaas (2 hat-tricks).
  • Lasith Malinga registered the second Sri Lankan bowler to claim hat-trick in World Cups after Chaminda Vaas.
  • Lasith Malinga's hat-trick was the 27th in ODI history, and the fifth in World Cups after Chetan Sharma, Saqlain Mushtaq, Chaminda Vaas and Brett Lee are the others to take a hat-trick in World Cups.

Sri Lanka scored 209 for all-out in 49.3 overs with top scorer by Tillakaratne Dilshan struck 58 off 76-balls including four boundaries, Russel Arnold cracked a 50 off 73 deliveries included two-fours, Kumar Sangakkara scored 28 and Sanath Jayasuriya 26.

South Africa best bowler by Charl Langeveldt claim 5-wicket haul for 39-runs in 10-overs, Makhaya Ntini took two-wickets and one for Andrew Hall.

South Africa chased 212-9 in 48.2 overs with top scorer by Jacques Kallis struck 86 off 110-balls including four boundaries, Graeme Smith cracked a 59 off 65-balls included five-fours & a six and Herschelle Gibbs scored 31.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Lasith Malinga claimed 4-wicket haul for 54-runs in 9.2 overs, Muttiah Muralitharan picked up 3-wickets, Chaminda Vaas and Sanath Jayasuriya each took one-wickets.

Charl Langeveldt and Lasith Malinga shared Man of the match award.
