* Adam Gilchrist hammered a 72-ball fourth fastest century in World Cup, It is the second fastest century by an Australian batsman in World Cups after Matthew Hayden's 66-balls and the fastest hundred in a World Cup finals, surpassing the previous record of 82-ball century held by Clive Lloyd against Australia at Lord's in 1975.

* Adam Gilchrist's 149 was his third highest score for Australia in One-day international, It is his second highest-score against Sri Lanka in ODIs and the second highest-score by an Australian batsman in World Cups after Matthew Hayden's 158.

* Adam Gilchrist's 149 was the highest-score ever in a World Cup finals, surpassing the previous record of unbeaten 140 held by Ricky Ponting against India at Johannesburg in the 2003 Word Cup.
