The ten-wicket win was Australia's first and the second overall in T20 internationals. It is also the first such defeat for Sri Lanka. Stuart Clark's 4 for 20 was the best bowling figures for Australia in T20 international and the joint sixth best figures in T20Is and also in World Twenty20.

Sri Lanka scored 101 for all-out in 19.3 overs with top scorer by Jehan Mubarak 28, Kumar Sangakkara 22, Chaminda Vaas 21 and Lasith Malinga 12 not out.

Australia best bowler by Stuart Clark 4-20, Nathan Bracken, Brett Lee both took two-wickets and one for Andrew Symonds - Shane Watson.

Australia chased 102-0 in 10.2 overs with top scorer by Matthew Hayden blasted a unbeaten 58 off 38-balls including 7-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 152.63 and Adam Gilchrist cracked a 31 not out off 25-balls included four-fours.

Stuart Clark named Player of the match for his pace bowling attack to claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 20-runs in 4 overs.
