* A sizzling 71-run stand between Brendon McCullum and James Franklin for eighth-wicket partnership helped New Zealand shrug off a start-stop batting effort, enabling them to clinch a 129-run win against Ireland.
New Zealand scored decent total of 263-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Peter Fulton 83, Brendon McCullum cracked a 47 off 37-balls including 2-fours and a six, James Franklin scored a unbeaten 34 off 22-balls included 3-fours and a six, Craig McMillan scored 22, Jacob Oram 20 and Hamish Marshall 16.
Ireland best bowler by Kyle McCallan, Dave Langford-Smith, Andrew White each took two-wickets and one for Boyd Rankin - Trent Johnston.
Ireland scored 134 for all-out in 37.4 overs with top scorer by Kevin O'Brien 49 off 45-balls - who fell one-run short of his half-century including 3-sixes and 2-fours, Nial O'Brien scored 30 off 75-balls included two boundaries and Eoin Morgan 15.
New Zealand best bowler by Daniel Vettori claimed 4-wicket haul for 23-runs in 8.4 overs, Shane Bond, Jeetan Patel each took two-wickets and one for Jacob Oram.
Peter Fulton named Player of the match for his spectacular batting display of scoring 83-runs knocked off facing 110-balls including 10-fours.
