Mayank Agarwal's first double-century, Rohit Sharma's both innings centuries with world record sixes in a match, Ravichandran Ashwin's 7 for 145 and Mohammed Shami's 5 for 35 gives India massive 203-run victory over South Africa and take a 1-0 lead in the first Test match.

Match Stats :

India's 502 was their third highest score against South Africa in Test Matches. South Africa's 431 was their 11th highest score against India in Test Matches. 215 : Mayank Agarwal became the second highest scorer by a Indian batsman against South Africa in Test Matches. Rohit Sharma's 176 was his highest score for India in Test matches and the third highest-scorer by an Indian batsman against South Africa in Tests. Mayank Agarwal became the 23rd Indian batsman to score a double century in Test cricket. 176 & 127 : Rohit Sharma became sixth Indian batsman to score hundred in each innings of a match in Test Matches. Ravichandran Ashwin's 7 for 145 was his fifth best bowling figures in Tests, This was his second best figures against South Africa and the fourth best for India against South Africa in Test matches. Ravichandran Ashwin claimed his 27th five wicket haul or more wickets in a single innings in Test matches. 27 : Ravichandran Ashwin became the joint seventh bowler take a most five-wicket haul in an innings in Test matches (jointly with Ian Botham 27). Mohammad Shami's 5 for 35 was his second best bowling figure in Tests and his fifth five-wicket haul or more wickets in a single innings in Test matches. 7 : Rohit Sharma equalled a joint second most sixes hit in an innings in Test matches, jointly with Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Hardik Pandya and the most-sixes hit by an Indian batsman against South Africa in an innings in Tests, surpassing the his 6-sixes and Mayank Agarwal's 6-sixes earlier in this match. 13 : Rohit Sharma hit the most sixes in an match in Test cricket history, surpassing the previous record of 12-sixes hit by Wasim Akram against Zimbabwe at Sheikhupura in 1996.

India scored 502-7 declared in 136-overs with top scorer by Mayank Agarwal cracked a career-best 215 off 371-balls - which was his first double hundred in Test Matches - including 23-fours & 6-sixes.

Rohit Sharma hammered a career-best 176 off 244-balls - which was his 4th Test hundred in Test cricket, Ravindra Jadeja scored a unbeaten 30 off 46-balls included a six, Wriddhiman Saha 21 and Virat Kohli 20.

South Africa best bowler by Keshav Maharaj took 3-wickets for 189-runs, Dean Elgar, debutant Senuran Muthusamy, Vernon Philander and Dane Piedt each took one wickets.

South Africa 1st Innings scored 431 for all-out in 131.2-overs with top scorer by Dean Elgar struck 160 off 287-balls  - which was his 12th Test century - including 18-fours and 4-sixes.

Quinton de Kock cracked a 111 off 163-balls - which was his 5th Test hundred - including 16 fours and 2 sixes, Faf du Plessis scored 55 off 103-balls included 8-fours & a six.

Debutant Senuran Muthusamy - who scored a unbeaten 33 off 106-balls on his debut Test match, Temba Bavuma 18 and Kagiso Rabada 15.

1st Innings India best bowler by Ravichandran Ashwin claimed a 7-wicket haul for 145-runs, Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets and one for Ishant Sharma.

India 2nd innings scored 323-4 declared in 67-overs with top scorer by Rohit Sharma blasted a 127 off 149-balls - which was his 5th Test hundred - including 10-fours and 7-sixes with strike rate of 85.23.

Cheteshwar Pujara cracked a 81 off 148-balls including 13-fours & 2-sixes, Ravindra Jadeja hammered a 40 off 32-balls included 3-sixes with strike rate of 125.

Virat Kohli hammered a unbeaten 31 off 25-balls including 3-fours & a six and Ajinkya Rahane blasted a unbeaten 27 off 17-balls included 4-fours & a six with strike rate of 158.82.

2nd Innings South Africa best bowler by Keshav Maharaj took two wickets for 129-runs, Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada each took one wickets.

South Africa 2nd innings scored 191 for all-out in 63.5 overs with top scorer by Dane Piedt struck 56 off 107-balls including 9-fours & a six.

Senuran Muthusamy hit a unbeaten 49 off 108-balls including 5-fours. Aiden Markram hit 39 off 74-balls included 5-fours & a six. Kagiso Rabada 18, Faf du Plessis 13 and Theunis de Bruyn 10.

2nd Innings India best bowler by Mohammad Shami claimed a 5-wicket haul for 35-runs in 10.5-overs including two maidens., Ravindra Jadeja picked up four wickets for 87-runs and Ravichandaran Ashwin took one-wicket.

Rohit Sharma named Player of the match for his delightful centuries in each innings and world record 13-sixes in a Test match.
