A rapid 72 from Matthew Wade and telling cameos with bat and ball David Hussey delivered to Australia comprehensive 31-run victory over India, despite a captain cool MS Dhoni's fighting 48* and take a 1-0 lead in the first T20I.

  • Australia's 31-run win was their second largest victory by terms of runs against India in T20 internationals.
  • Australia's 171 was their third highest score against India in T20 internationals.
  • India's 140 was their third lowest score against Australia in T20 internationals.
  • 56 : Matthew Wade and David Hussey set up the second highest third-wicket partnership for Australia against India in T20 international and Australia's fifth highest third-wicket stand in T20Is.

Australia scored 171-4 in 20 overs with top scorer by Matthew Wade 72, David Hussey struck 42 off 30-balls including 3-sixes & a four with strike rate of 140.

David Warner blasted a 25 off 14-balls including 2-sixes & a four with strike-rate of 178.57 and Travis Birt 17.

India best bowler by Suresh Raina, Vinay Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin each took one-wickets and debutant Rahul Sharma - who took one-wicket on his debut T20I match.

India scored 140-6 in 20 overs with top scorer by MS Dhoni cracked a unbeaten 48 off 43-balls including 3-sixes & a four, Virat Kohli 22, Gautam Gambhir 20 and Ravichandran Ashwin 15 not out.

Australia best bowler by David Hussey takes 2-wickets for 2-runs in 2-overs, Daniel Christian took two-wickets and one for Brad Hogg - Brett Lee.

Matthew Wade named Player of the match for his spectacular batting display of scoring a career-best rapid 72-runs knocked off 43-balls including 5-fours and 3-sixes with strike rate of 178.57.
