Rain-stopped the play after Sri Lanka 6 for without losing wicket in a rain-stop-start game of the one-off Twenty20 international.
New Zealand scored 74-7 in 14 overs - due to rain overs reduced 20 to 14-overs each side - with top scorer by Tim Southee blasted a unbeaten 21 off 10-balls including 4-fours with strike rate of 200 and Andrew Ellis 16.
Sri Lanka best bowler by Akila Dananjaya, Nuwan Kulasekara, Thisara Perera each took two-wickets and one for Shaminda Eranga.
Sri Lanka scored 6-0 in 2-overs with top scorer by Dilshan Munaweera 6 not out and Tillakaratne Dilshan 2 not out.
