Asela Gunaratne's quick-fire fifty and Dilshan Munaweera's assault sets up to Sri Lanka pulled off a last-ball thrilling five-wicket victory over Australia and take a 1-0 lead in a high-voltage game of the first T20I.

This is the third time Sri Lanka winning on the last ball of the match in T20 internationals and It their first such win against Australia in T20Is. Australia's 168 was their joint second highest score against Sri Lanka in T20 internationals. 74 : Niroshan Dickwella and Dilshan Munaweera set up the record second-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Australia in T20 international, previously held by the 62-run stand between Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara at Nottingham in the 2009 World Twenty20 and Sri Lanka's joint eighth highest second-wicket stand in T20Is, jointly 74-run stand held by between Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara against India at Nagpur in 2009. Asela Gunaratne became the sixth Sri Lankan batsman to score a fifty against Australia in T20 internationals.

Australia scored 168-6 in 20 overs with top scorer by Aaron Finch struck 43 off 34-balls including 2-sixes & 2-fours.

Debutant Michael Klinger - who scored 38 off 32-balls on his debut T20I match - including 4-fours.

Travis Head hit 31 off 25-balls including a six, Debutant Ashton Turner - who scored 18 off 13-balls on his debut T20I match and Moises Henriques 17.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Lasith Malinga took 2-wickets, Asela Gunaratne, Lakshan Sandakan both takes 1-wickets and Debutant Vikum Sanjaya - who took one-wicket on his debut T20I match.

Sri Lanka chased 172-5 in 20 overs with top scorer by Asela Gunaratne 52, Dilshan Munaweera blasted a 44 off 29-balls including 6-fours with strike rate of 151.72.

Niroshan Dickwella hit 30 off 25-balls including 4-fours & a six and Milinda Siriwardana 15.

Australia best bowler by Debutant Ashton Turner - who took 2-wickets on his debut T20I match, Adam Zampa takes two-wickets and one for Pat Cummins.

Asela Gunaratne named Player of the match for his match-winning quick-fire 52-runs knocked off facing 37-balls including 7-fours with strike rate of 140.54.
