Fifties from Mahela Jayawardene, Sanath Jayasuriya and Russel Arnold sets up to Sri Lanka narrow 18-run victory over India, despite a Ashish Nehra six-for - Virender Sehwag's assault and clinch the title in the final of a Indian Oil Cup tri-series.

  • Sanath Jayasuriya became the fourth player to score 1000 ODI runs milestone after Sachin Tendulkar, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Sourav Ganguly.
  • Ashish Nehra's 6 for 59 was his second best performance, it is the fourth best bowling figures for India in One-day international and India's best figures against Sri Lanka in ODIs.

Sri Lanka scored 281-9 in 50 overs with top scorer by Mahela Jayawardene 83, Sanath Jayasuriya struck 67 off 77-balls including 9-fours.

Russel Arnold cracked 64 off 63-balls including 4-fours and Chaminda Vaas 18 not out.

India best bowler by Ashish Nehra claimed 6-wicket haul for 59-runs in 10-overs including a maiden.

India scored 263-9 in 50 overs with top scorer by Rahul Dravid struck 69 off 99-balls including 3-fours, Virender Sehwag hammered a 22-ball 48-runs including 9-fours & a six with strike rate of 218.18.

Yuvraj Singh hit 42 off 58-balls including 2-fours, Mohammad Kaif scored 31 off 36-balls included 3-fours and Sourav Ganguly 26.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Upul Chandana each took two-wickets and one for Tillakaratne Dilshan.

Mahela Jayawardene named Player of the match for his brilliant 83-runs knocked off facing 97-balls including 5-fours.

Mahela Jayawardene earned player of the series for contributing 230-runs including two-fifties with average of 57.50.
