Paul Valthaty's maiden IPL century powers to Kings XI Punjab stunning six-wicket victory over defending IPL champions Chennai Super Kings in a high-scoring game of the ninth match of a Indian Premier League.

Paul Valthaty hammered a 52-ball fastest century for Kings XI Punjab in IPL history, surpassing the previous record of 55-ball hundred held by Mahela Jayawardene against Kolkata Knight Riders at Kolkata in the last year and the eighth fastest century in IPL. Paul Valthaty became the third Kings XI Punjab batsman to score a hundred in IPL after Shaun Marsh and Mahela Jayawardene. Paul Valthaty became the first Kings XI Punjab batsman to score a century against Chennai Super Kings in IPL history. Paul Valthaty's unbeaten 120 was the highest score by an Kings XI Punjab batsman in IPL history, surpassing the previous record of 115 held by Shaun Marsh against Rajasthan Royals at same venue in the inaugural 2008 edition and the third highest-score by any batsman in IPL.

CSK scored 188-4 in 20 overs with top scorer by Murali Vijay hammered a 74 off 43-balls including 6-fours & 4-sixes with strike rate of 172.09.

S Badrinath cracked a unbeaten 66 off 56-balls including 8-fours and MS Dhoni hammered a unbeaten 43 off 20-balls included 4-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 215.

KXIP best bowler by Praveen Kumar took 2-wickets and one for Ryan Harris - Piyush Chawla.

KXIP chased 193-4 in 19.1 overs with top scorer by Paul Valthaty hammered a career-best unbeaten 120 off 63-balls  - which was his 1st IPL hundred.

Dinesh Karthik blasted a unbeaten 21 off 11-balls including 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 190.90, Sunny Singh hit 20 off 11-balls included two-fours & a six with strike rate of 181.81 and Adam Gilchrist scored 19 off 15-balls contained two boundaries.

CSK best bowler by Suraj Randiv, Tim Southee and Albie Morkel each took one-wickets.

Paul Valthaty named Player of the match for his record-breaking batting performance to smashed a career-best unbeaten 120-runs knocked off facing 63-balls including 19-fours and 2-sixes with strike rate of 190.47.
