Anil Kumble's four for 25 and Venkatesh Prasad's three-for after Half-century from Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja's 43* helped to India comprehensive 35-run victory over South Africa, despite a fighting knocks from David Richardson - Pat Symcox and clinch the title in the final of a Titan Cup triangular tournament.

  • 51 : Ajay Jadeja and Nayan Mongia set up the record seventh-wicket partnership for India against South Africa in One-day internationals, previously held by the 41-run stand between Rahul Dravid and Javagal Srinath at Sharjah in this year.
  • 88 : David Richardson and Pat Symcox set up the record eighth-wicket partnership for South Africa in One-day internationals previously held by the 66-run stand between Shaun Pollock and Brian Matthews against England at Cape Town in this year and the third highest eighth-wicket stand in ODIs.
  • Allan Donald only 2nd time batted in ODIs in this year.

India scored 220-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Sachin Tendulkar struck 67 off 88-balls including 6-fours.

Ajay Jadeja cracked a unbeaten 43 off 42-balls including 2-sixes & 2-fours, Rahul Dravid scored 31 off 41-balls included 2-fours, Mohammad Azharuddin 26 and Nayan Mongia 15.

South Africa best bowler by Fanie de Villiers picked up 3-wickets for 32-runs in 10-overs including two maidens, Nicky Boje took 2-wickets and one for Allan Donald.

South Africa scored 185 for all-out in 47.2 overs with top scorer by Pat Symcox struck 46 off 61-balls including 4-fours & a six.

David Richardson cracked a 43 off 66-balls including 3-fours, Daryll Cullinan scored 31 off 50-balls included a boundary and Gary Kirsten 23.

India best bowler by Anil Kumble 4-25, Venkatesh Prasad picked up 3-wickets for 28-runs in 9-overs, Robin Singh took 2-wickets and one for Sunil Joshi.

Anil Kumble named Player of the match for his excellent spin bowling performance to claimed a 4-wicket haul for 25-runs in 8.2-overs.

Allan Donald earned player of the series for claiming the 17-wickets in the tournament.
