India's star batsman Virender Sehwag smashed a record-breaking magnificent 175-runs knocked off facing 140-balls including 14-fours and 5-sixes with striking rate of 125 helped to India set up the massive total of 370 against India in the opening match of a World Cup.
* Virender Sehwag became the first Indian batsman to score a hundred on the opening day of the World Cup history and overall the tenth player in World Cups.
* Virender Sehwag plundered 175 - the joint fifth highest score for India in One-day international and the joint fourth highest-score in World Cups, jointly unbeaten 175 held by Kapil Dev against Zimbabwe at Tunbridge Wells in 1983.
* Virender Sehwag's 175 was the highest score by an Indian batsman against Bangladesh in One-day international, surpassing the previous record of unbeaten 135 held by Sourav Ganguly at Dhaka in 2000 and the second highest-score by any batsman against Bangladesh in ODIs after Charles Coventry's unbeaten 194.
Virender Sehwag who slammed his 14th One-day international century - which was his first century against Bangladesh and his second ODI hundred in World Cups and his 100 came from 94-balls.
