West Indies lost only one wicket with opener Roy Fredericks, whose scored a 33 with facing 38-balls.

Deryck Murray scored a unbeaten 30 off consuming 50 deliveries included two fours and one six and Alvin Kallicharran added unbeaten 19 off 37-ball with two fours.
Sri Lanka put in to bat was in desperate straits from the fourth over when Bernard Julien had both Ranjit Fernando and Sri Lanka skipper Anura Tennekoon caught at the wicket with the total at five.

The other West Indian speed merchants quickly joined in the wicket-taking and nine were out for 58.
Somachandra De Silva held up the Caribbean assault until lunch and was last out for 21, after a 10th wicket stand of 28 with Lalith Kaluperuma.
De Silva also struck the only blow for Sri Lanka when the West Indians batted, getting Roy Fredericks caught out in the covers with the score 52.
West Indies bowler Bernard Julien picked up four wickets at a considered of 20 runs, Keith Boyce took three for 22 and Sir Andy Roberts took two wickets for 16-runs with five maiden overs.
