Pace bowling attack from Michael Holding, Andy Roberts and A spinner Larry Gomes' four-wicket haul before Gordon Greenidge's masterclass half-century helped to West Indies easy seven-wicket victory over India and take a 2-1 lead to West Indies clinch the their historic first series win against India in a one-sided game of the third ODI.


* India were bowled out for 166 before lunch, the spin bowling of Larry Gomes taking four wickets for 38, and when West Indies batted Gordon Greenidge made 64.

* In a low-scoring match, West Indies needed to score only 167 to win and did so with nine overs to spare.

* The Indians ran into early trouble when Sunil Gavaskar, who hit his 27th Test century two days ago, was out for three runs in the sixth over at the India scored nine runs.

* Sunil Gavaskar threw away his wicket in pique at reluctance of the umpires penalise to the West Indies bowlers for bowling bumpers.



India scored 166 for all-out in 44.4 overs with top scorer by Dilip Vengsarkar blasted a 54 off 59-balls including 5-fours & 2-sixes.

Yashpal Sharma scored 25 off consuming 64-deliveries, Ravi Shastri 17 and Balwinder Sandhu 16 not out.

West Indies best bowler by Larry Gomes claimed a 4-wickets for 38-runs in 10-overs, Michael Holding, Andy Roberts both took 2-wickets and one for Malcolm Marshall.

West Indies chased 167-3 in 40.2 overs with top scorer by Gordon Greenidge struck 64 off 95-balls.

Viv Richards scored a run-a-ball 28-runs, Faoud Bacchus cracked a unbeaten 26 off 56-balls, Jeff Dujon 20 not out and Desmond Haynes 19.

India best bowler by Ravi Shastri, Mohinder Amarnath and Srinivas Venkataraghavan each took one-wickets.

Gordon Greenidge named Player of the match for his match-winning masterclass 64 off 95-balls including 5-fours & 2-sixes.
