Captain Viv Richards' blazing half-century and Opener Desmond Haynes' fifty before Pace bowlers Michael Holding's four-wickets and Malcolm Marshall's three-wickets helped to West Indies comprehensive 40-run victory over Pakistan and take 2-1 lead in the third ODI.



* WEST INDIES go up a 2-1 lead in their one-day international cricket series against Pakistan after a sparkling 66 by captain Viv Richards, Opener Desmond Haynes' 60, Michael Holding and Malcolm Marshall combined seven-wickets helped them to a 40-run victory.

* West Indies scored 201 for five in their 40 overs after Viv Richards, the man of the match, decided to batting first on the grassless pitch.

* Skipper Viv Richards hammered a his 66 runs from 38 balls with the help of four massive sixes and five fours. And Desmond Haynes hit a classy 60.

* When Pakistan chasing, pace bowlers Malcolm Marshall and Michael Holding, who was operating at medium pace, share seven wickets between them to remove the home side bundled out for 161 with three balls of their 40 overs remaining.

* Michael Holding took four-wickets for 17 off 7.3 overs while Marshall returned three for 36 in eight overs. Rameez Raja was Pakistan's top scorer with 38.




West Indies scored 201-5 in the allotted 40 overs with top scorer by Viv Richards hammered a 66 off 39-balls including 5-fours & 4-sixes with strike rate of 169.23.

Desmond Haynes scored 60 off 97-balls including two boundaries, Richie Richardson hit 27 off 52-balls included 2-fours and Larry Gomes 15.

Pakistan best bowler by Imran Khan picked up 3-wickets for 39-runs in 7-overs and Tauseef Ahmed took one-wicket for 24-runs in 8-overs included a maiden.

Pakistan scored 161 for all-out in 39.3 overs with top scorer by Ramiz Raja hit 38 off 61-balls including a boundary.

Abdul Qadir cracked a 37 off 33-balls including 2-fours and Mudassar Nazar 19.

West Indies best bowler by Michael Holding claimed a 4-wickets for 17-runs in 7.3-overs, Malcolm Marshall picked up 3-wickets for 36-runs in 8-overs included a maiden, Courtney Walsh and Roger Harper both took one-wickets.
