* New Zealand all but through to semi-final by the most improbable of mathematical possibilities locked in their place in the World Cup semi-final with a comfortable five-wicket win with 160 balls remaining against Sri Lanka, The result means they have now ten points, and a net run rate (NRR) is 0.743. That essentially means Pakistan required to beat England by massive 287 runs, while Afghanistan required an even more fanciful 438-run win over Australia if they are to surpass New Zealand's NRR.

* If Pakistan happened to run-chase, this becomes even more unlikely a possibility, as they would required to chase a hypothetical target of 150 in just 3.4 overs.
