Brendon Kuruppu hit 38 off 66-balls including 5-fours, Arjuna Ranatunga scored 37 off 62-balls included 3-fours, Ravi Ratnayeke 19, Ranjan Madugalle 17, Aravinda de Silva 16 and Hashan Tillakaratne 15 not out.

England best bowler by Gladstone Small picked up 3-wickets for 44-runs in 11-overs including a maiden, Graham Gooch took 2-wickets and one for Derek Pringle.

England chased 245-5 in 52.4 overs with top scorer by Debutant Kim Barnett - who scored 84 off consuming 146-balls on his debut ODI match - without a boundary.

Allan Lamb cracked a 66 off 70-balls including 3-fours & a six, Rob Bailey blasted a unbeaten 43 off 34-balls including 3-fours & a six with strike rate of 126.47.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Graeme Labrooy picked up 3-wickets for 40-runs in 10-overs and Ravi Ratnayeke took one-wicket.

Kim Barnett named Player of the match for his match-winning 84 off 146-balls on his debut ODI match.
