Heavy overnight rain seeped through the covers and on to the grassless pitch and combined with a damp outfield to force the match to be cancelled.
The cancelled deprived New Zealand opportunity of gaining a consolation victory in the series which they lost 4-0 after defeats in Visakhapatnam, Cuttack, Indore and Baroda.
Dilip Vengsarkar's stormtroopers also won a three Test Series which preceded the one-dayers, earning a 2-1 verdict.
