Harry Tector's scintillating unbeaten half-century before Ben White's career-best 4-wicket haul, Josh Little and Barry McCarthy's combined 5-wickets gives Ireland comfortable 38-run victory over Afghanistan, despite a captain Rashid Khan comeback with an excellent bowling display and take a 1-0 lead in the first T20I.

Ireland's 38-run win was their tenth largest victory by terms of runs in T20 international and It is their second biggest win against Afghanistan in T20Is after their 68-run win at Abu Dhabi in 2013. Ireland's 149 was their 11th highest score against Afghanistan in T20 international and It is their highest total at Sharjah in T20Is, previously they have scored 125 against Namibia in 2021. Rashid Khan became the first Afghanistan player to take 350 wickets in International cricket history. Ben White's 4 for 20 was the joint seventh best bowling performance for Ireland in T20 international and the best-bowling-figures by an Ireland bowler against Afghanistan in T20Is, surpassing the previous record of 4 for 22 held by Trent Johnston at Colombo (PSS) in 2010. Afghanistan's 111 was their joint eighth lowest score in a completed innings in T20 international, It is their worst-total against Ireland in T20Is, previous lowest was 121 at Colombo (PSS) in 2013 and also It is their second lowest-score at Sharjah in T20Is after their 90 against Netherlands in 2013.

Ireland scored 149-6 in 20 overs with top scorer by Harry Tector hammered a unbeaten 56 off 34-balls including 7-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 164.70.

Paul Stirling struck 25 off 27-balls including 2-fours & a six, Andy Balbirnie hit 22 off 14-balls included 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 157.14 and Gareth Delany scored  16 off 20-balls included two boundaries.

Afghanistan best bowler by Rashid Khan picked up 3-wickets for 19-runs in 4-overs, Debutant Nangeyalia Kharote - who took 2-wickets on his debut T20I match and Azmatullah Omarzai took one-wicket.

Afghanistan bundled out for 111 in 18.4 overs with top scorer by Mohammad Ishaq struck 32 off 22-balls Including 6-fours with strike rate of 145.45.

Mohammad Nabi hit 25 off 21-balls including one-six & a four and Debutant Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai - who scored 16 off 17-balls on his debut T20I match - included a boundary.

Ireland best bowler by Ben White 4-20, Josh Little picked up 3-wickets for 18-runs in 4-overs, Barry McCarthy took 2-wickets and one for Mark Adair.

Ben White named Player of the match for his spin bowling performance to claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 20-runs in 4-overs.
