Washington Sundar stars as India won the Super Over after Suryakumar Yadav took 2-wickets and conceded five runs off last-over of the match as match-tied against Sri Lanka, despite a Kusal Mendis - Kusal Perera's solid innings and India clinch the three-match series with 3-0 whitewash in a low-scoring thriller of the third & final T20I.

Match Stats : 
  • India's 30 for 4 was their second lowest powerplay total in T20 international (powerplay of 6-overs), after their 29 for 4 at Colombo (RPS) in 2021.
  • India's 137 was their fifth lowest score in a completed innings against Sri Lanka in T20 international and It is their third worst-total in Sri Lankan soil in T20Is.
  • 54 : Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag set up the third highest sixth-wicket partnership for India against Sri Lanka in T20Is.
  • 32 : Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi set up the third highest eighth-wicket partnership for India against Sri Lanka in T20Is.
  • 58 : Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis set up the sixth highest first-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against India in T20 internationals.
  • 52 : Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera set up the seventh highest second-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against India in T20 internationals.
  • Sri Lanka's 137 was their joint eighth lowest score in a completed innings against India in T20 international and It is their third worst-total against India at their home venue in T20Is.

* Spinner Washington Sundar took two wickets & conceded 2 runs as India won the Super Over after Spinners Washington Sundar, Rinku Singh, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi each took 2-wickets.

* When Sri Lanka required 6 from six-balls. Mohammed Siraj had an over remaining but captain Suryakumar Yadav decided to bring himself on as the ball was turning a mile. He was bowling the first time for India in T20Is. Moreover, India were behind the over-rate and could have only four fielders outside the 30-yard circle. But skipper Suryakumar conceded just five runs and captured  two wickets to tie the game.

* Spinner Washington Sundar started the Super Over with a wide ball. But a single later, he had taken Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka caught at the boundary off successive balls. With India required only three runs from Super Over, Suryakumar Yadav swept Spinner Maheesh Theekshana's first ball towards short fine leg, where Asitha Fernando fumble lets the ball through his legs and the ball rolls into the boundary.


India scored respected total of 137-9 in 20 overs with top scorer by Shubman Gill cracked a 39 off 37-balls including 3-fours.

Riyan Parag hammered a 26 off 18-balls including 2-sixes & a four with strike rate of 144.44, Washington Sundar struck 25 off 18-balls  and Shivam Dube scored 13 off 14-balls contained a boundary.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Maheesh Theekshana picked up 3-wickets for 28-runs in 4-overs, Wanindu Hasaranga captured 2-wickets, Asitha Fernando, Debutant Chamindu Wickramasinghe - who took one-wicket on his debut T20I match and Ramesh Mendis strikes one-wickets.

Sri Lanka scored 137-8 in 20 overs with top scorer by Kusal Perera hammered a 46 off 34-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - including 5-fours with strike rate of 135.29.

Kusal Mendis struck 43 off 41-balls including 3-fours, Pathum Nissanka struck 26 off 27-balls included 5-fours

India best bowler by Rinku Singh - who captured 2-wickets for 3-runs on his first-ever over in T20 internationals, Suryakumar Yadav - who took two-wickets for 5-runs on his first-ever over in T20Is, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi both took 2-wickets.

Washington Sundar named Player of the match for his all-round performance to took 2-wickets for 23-runs in 4-overs after scoring a valuable 25 off 18-balls including 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 138.88.

Suryakumar Yadav earned player of the series for contributing 92 runs and took 2-wickets in the three-match series.
