Jasprit Bumrah, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Ravichandaran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja guided India remarkable 7-wicket victory over Bangladesh, despite two lost days and India beat the weather and the clock to clinch the two-match with series 2-0 whitewash in a rain-affected game of the second & final Test match.

  • India's win is their 13th in 15 matches against Bangladesh. Their only two matches drawn came in 2007 and 2015.
  • This is the India's 18th consecutive Test series win at home venue.
  • 15 Test matches played between India and Bangladesh without a defeat - The third most matches played against an opposition without losing a single Test match after 20 by Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe and 17 by New Zealand against Zimbabwe.
  • The 52 overs faced by India in Kanpur Test - This is their second least overs batting in a winning Test match after they have faced 46.5 overs against South Africa at Cape Town earlier in this year.
  • Bangladesh's 233 was their fourth highest score against India in Indian soil in Test matches.

  • India's 100 off just 10.1-overs - The fastest team hundred in Test cricket history (where known), beating their own record of 12.2 overs team 100 against West Indies at Port of Spain in the last year.
  • India's 200 off just 24.2-overs - The fastest team 200-run mark in Test cricket history (where known), surpassing the previous record of 28.1 overs team 200 by Australia against Pakistan at Sydney in 2017.
  • This is the first instances of India completing their fifty inside the 20 balls of the innings in international cricket (all formats), Their previous fastest half-century was in 3.4-overs also against Bangladesh at Hangzhou in the last year Asian Games (T20I).
  • The run-rate 14.34 of the 55-run stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma, which came from just 3.5 overs. This is the fastest fifty partnership in Test cricket by run-rate. The previous highest was 11.86 by an England pair of Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes, who added 87 off 44-balls against West Indies at Birmingham earlier in this year.
  • 96 : The most sixes hit by Indian batsman across the eight Test matches in 2024 - The most-sixes hit by a team in a calendar year in Test cricket, beating England's tally of 89 sixes in 2022.
  • Rohit Sharma hit two sixes for the first two balls faced off Khaled Ahmed - This is the fourth instances of a player hitting sixes for the first two balls they faced in a Test innings. First instance by Foffie Williams against Jim Laker at Barbados in 1948, Two other India batsman have also done it - Sachin Tendulkar off Nathan Lyon at Chennai 2013 and Umesh Yadav off George Linde at Ranchi in 2019 Ranchi.
  • Virat Kohli became the second Indian batsman to reach 270000 runs in international cricket after Sachin Tendulkar and overall the fourth player to achieve this feat in international cricket after Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara.
  • Virat Kohli became the fastest to reach 27000 runs in terms of innings in international cricket history. beating world's best & legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar's record, He achieved this feat in 623 innings.
  • India's 285-9 for declaring was their lowest-score ever declaration in the first innings in Test matches, previous lowest total declaration was 291-9 against Australia at Melbourne in 1948.
  • The 34.4 overs faced by India - This is the fifth shortest declaration of a first innings in Tests.
  • Bangladesh's 146 was their fifth lowest score against India in Test matches.
  • This is the 8th fifty-plus scores for Yashasvi Jaiswal in 13 Test innings at home all have came in 2024 - The most fifty-plus scores by any batsman in a calendar year in Indian soil in Tests, beating India's Chetan Chauhan's 7 fifty-plus scores in 1979.
  • 11 : Ravichandran Ashwin equalled a joint most Player-of-the-Series awards in Test matches, jointly with Muttiah Muralitharan.

* India demonstrate real Bazball against Bangladesh in Kanpur, despite two days of no play due to rain.


Day 1 Report: 
* Heavy rains shortened opening day after Bangladesh lost three wickets in the second & final Test match.

A combination of bad light and heavy rain meant only 35 overs were possible on the first day of the 2nd Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur, in which Bangladesh scored 107 for 3.


Day 2 Report:

* Persistent drizzle in Kanpur washes out second day

A start-stop drizzle meant there was no play on the second day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur. The whole ground remained under covers throughout the day. At times, three super-soppers came out, running over the covers, but the ground staff could not do much beyond that.


Day 3 Report: 

* Third day of the second Test match called off despite no rain

For the second consecutive day, there was no play in the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur. Unlike Saturday, there was not a single drop of rain today but a wet outfield resulted in play being called off at 2pm. Ironically, as soon as the umpires made that decision, the sun emerged from behind the clouds.

* Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul whirlwind fifties to lead India's onslaught, before Ravichandran Ashwin struck twice as India's aggression keeps result alive after two lost days in a record-breaking fastest 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 in the day four of the second & final Test match.

* Yashasvi Jaiswal's both innings fifty as India chased 95 against Bangladesh after Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja helped to India set  95 target in the fifth &  final day of the second & final Test match.



Bangladesh 1st Innings scored 233 for all-out in 74.2 overs with top scorer by Mominul Haque hit a unbeaten 107 off 194-balls including 17-fours & a six.

Najmul Hossain Shanto struck 31 off 57-balls including 6-fours and Shadman Islam scored 24 off 36-balls included 4-fours and Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 20 off 42-balls included 4-fours.

1st Innings India best bowler by Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3-wickets, Akash Deep, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj each took 2-wickets and one for Ravindra Jadeja.

India 1st Innings scored 285-9 for declared in 34.4 overs with top scorer by Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered a 72 off 51-balls including 12-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 141.17.

KL Rahul blasted a 68 off 43-balls including 7-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 158.13, Virat Kohli hit 47 off 35-balls included 4-fours & a six with strike-rate of 134.28.

Rohit Sharma hammered a 23 off 11-balls including 3-sixes & a four with strike rate of 209.09, Shubman Gill struck 39 off 36-balls included 4-fours & a six with strike-rate of 108.33 and Akash Deep hit 12 off 5-balls contained 2-sixes with strike rate of 240.

1st innings Bangladesh best bowler by Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed a 4-wickets for 41-runs in 6.4-overs, Shakib Al Hasan captured 4-wickets for 78-runs in 11-overs and Hasan Mahmud took one-wicket.

Bangladesh 2nd Innings scored 146 for all-out in 47 overs with top scorer by Shadman Islam struck 50 off 101-balls including 10-fours.

Mushfiqur Rahim cracked a 37 off 63-balls including 7-fours and Najmul Hossain Shanto hit 19 off 37-balls included 2-fours and Zakir Hasan 10.

2nd Innings India best bowler by Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3-wickets for 17-runs in 10-overs including five maidens with economy rate of 1.70.

Ravindra Jadeja captured three-wickets for 34-runs in 10-overs including two maidens, Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 3-wickets and one for Akash Deep.

India chased 98-3 in 17.2 overs with top scorer by Yashasvi Jaiswal blasted a 51 off 45-balls including 8-fours & a six with strike rate of 113.33.

Virat Kohli hit a unbeaten 29 off 37-balls including 4-fours with strike rate of 78.37, Rohit Sharma 7 and Rishabh Pant 4 not out.

2nd Innings Bangladesh best bowler by Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 2-wickets and one for Taijul Islam.

Yashasvi Jaiswal named Player of the match for his quick-fire batting performance to smashed a 72 & 51 runs in an match.

Ravichandran Ashwin earned player of the series for contributing 114 runs and took 11 wickets in the two-match series.
