Openers Travis Head's record-breaking 19-ball fastest fifty and Matthew Short's 26-ball 41 before Bowlers shine as Australia comfortable 28-run victory over England, despite a Liam Livingstone's all-round show and take a 1-0 lead in the first T20I.

  • Australia's 28-run win was their fifth largest victory by terms of runs against England in T20 internationals.
  • 86 : Matthew Short and Travis Head set up the third highest first-wicket partnership for Australia against England in T20 internationals.
  • Travis Head hammered a 19-ball his second fastest fifty for Australia in T20 international and the fastest fifty by an Australian batsman against England in T20I cricket history, surpassing the previous record of 24-ball half-century held by George Bailey at Melbourne in 2014.
  • Australia's 86 for 1 was their highest powerplay total against England in T20 internationals, their previous highest-powerplay was 74 for 2 at Bridgetown earlier in this year T20 World Cup.

Australia scored 179 for all-out in 19.3 overs with top scorer by Travis Head hammered a 59 off 23-balls, Matthew Short struck 41 off 26-balls including 4-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 157.69.

Josh Inglis cracked a 37 off 27-balls included 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 137.03 and one Cameron Green scored 13 off 16-balls without a boundary.

England best bowler by Liam Livingstone picked up 3-wickets for 22-runs in 3-overs, Saqib Mahmood, Jofra Archer both took 2-wickets and one for Adil Rashid - Sam Curran.

England bowled out for 151 in 19.2 overs with top scorer by Liam Livingstone hammered a 37 off 27-balls including 4-fours & a six with strike rate of  137.03.

Phil Salt hit 20 off 12-balls including 4-fours with strike rate of 166.66, Sam Curran scored 18 off 15-balls included 2-fours.

Debutant Jordan Cox  - who scored 17 off 12-balls on his debut T20I match - including three boundaries and another debutant Jamie Overton - who hit 15 off 9-balls on his debut T20I match - included 2-fours.

Australia best bowler by Sean Abbott picked up 3-wickets for 28-runs in 3.2-overs, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood both took 2-wickets, Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett each took one-wickets.

Travis Head named Player of the match for his brutal batting performance to smashed a 59 off 23-balls including 8-fours & 4-sixes with strike rate of 256.52.
