Sri Lanka's innings & 154-run win was their largest victory by terms of innings and runs against New Zealand in Test matches, previous win by innings & 16-runs at same venue in 1998. This is the 20th time Sri Lanka have whitewashed their oppositions in a bilateral two-match series in Test matches and It is their second against New Zealand in Tests after they have won 2-0 against New Zealand in 2009. This is the 14th time New Zealand have suffered a clean sweep in a bilateral two-match series in Tests. 13 innings : Kamindu Mendis equalled a joint third fastest batsman to reach 1000 Test runs in terms of Innings, jointly 13 innings took by Don Bradman. Everton Weekes and Herbert Sutcliffe both got there in 12 Test innings to reach 1000 runs. 13 innings : Kamindu Mendis became the fastest Sri Lankan player to reach 1000 Test runs in terms of innings, beating Roy Dias, Michael Vandort and Dhananjaya de Silva, They took 23 innings to reach this feat. Kamindu Mendis became the first player to score a fifty-plus scores in each of his first eight Test matches. The previous record of seven fifty-plus scores by Saud Shakeel. Kamindu Mendis became the second Sri Lanka batsman to score a eight or more consecutive fifty-plus scores in Test matches after Kumar Sangakkara's nine fifty-plus scores in nine successive Tests in 2014. 13 Innings : Kamindu Mendis became the joint fourth fastest to reach 5th Test hundreds in terms of innings, jointly with Don Bradman and George Headley both took 13 innings to reach this feat. Only three players to reach fewer innings - Everton Weekes (10), Herbert Sutcliffe (12) and Neil Harvey (12). Kamindu Mendis' average of 91.27 was the second-highest batting average among players with 1000-plus Test runs, behind only Don Bradman's 99.94 and the fourth-highest batting average after 13 Test innings, behind Neil Harvey (106.56), Don Bradman (99.67) and Sunil Gavaskar (91.80). Sri Lanka's 602 was their 15th highest score in Test matches and It is their highest-score against New Zealand in Tests, previous highest was 498 at Napier in 2005. Sri Lanka's 602 was their ninth highest score at their home venue in Test matches and It is their second highest total at Galle in Test after their 704 against Ireland in the last year. This is the 15th instance of Sri Lanka's three batsmen were scores of centuries or more runs in their innings in Test matches and It is their first such instance against New Zealand in Tests. New Zealand's 88 was their lowest score against Sri Lanka in Test matches, previous lowest was 102 at Colombo (SSC) in 1992 and the fourth worst-total by any team at Galle in Tests. Prabath Jayasuriya's 6 for 42 was his second best bowling performance for Sri Lanka in Test matches and the best-bowling-figures by an Sri Lankan bowler against New Zealand in Tests, surpassing the previous record of 6 for 43 held by Rangana Herath at same venue in 2012. Prabath Jayasuriya's 6 for 42 was the seventh best bowling figures by an Sri Lankan bowler at Galle in Tests. New Zealand's 360 was their eighth highest score in the second innings against Sri Lanka in Tests.
