The story was familiar and the outcome expected as Australia's domination of England continued in the World Series Cup cricket match in Perth.

In what has become a usual scenario this season, Australia recorded a comfortable six-wicket victory over England, with the tourists' batting line-up once again collapsing. In further bad news for England, fast bowler Gladstone Small could not complete the match because of injury.

Set 193 for victory, the cavalier strokeplay of Dean Jones, pictured right, with an unbeaten 63, helped Australia cruise to victory with nine overs to spare.

Australia's healthy advantage was systematic as it backed up tight bowling with superb fielding, and intelligent batting. The hard work ensured Australia would maintain its unbeaten record in the one-day competition and would again leave England to languish at the bottom of the table.

tourists did compile valuable runs at the end of the innings. The swashbuckling blade of tailender Martin Bicknell, who belted 31 runs from just 24 deliveries, gave the English total some respectability.

However, the 9-192 run total amassed was not expected to, and did not, trouble the Australians.

Australia received a promising start of 56 by openers David Boon (38) and Geoff Marsh (37) that set up the win.Jones, with some assistance from captain Allan Border with 24, then started his plan to end the match short of its scheduled finishing time.

The Victorian hammered eight fours and one six in his 74-ball stay in a typically exciting one-day innings. But Jones might pay a price for his effort after receiving a knock on the hand from Chris Lewis during his stay at the crease.

Jones was in pain for several minutes before resuming his innings and was expected to have x-rays on the injury tomorrow.

England also added another casualty to its fast-growing list. Small strained his left thigh muscle in his fifth over and was forced to have the over completed by Wayne Larkins.

The Barbados-born bowler did not return to the field. He was immediately placed in doubt for England's one-day match with New Zealand in Sydney on Thursday. It is a cruel blow for the Englishmen, who have already had to enlarge their squad because of injury.

Captain Graham Gooch is still weeks from a full return to action after an operation on a poisoned right hand. David Gower has a broken thumb and Eddie Hemmings is unavailable because of a leg injury.
