Andrew Jones' classy half-century before A economical bowling figures by Chris Harris' three-for, Chris Pringle and debutant Chris Cairns combined 5-wickets helped to New Zealand narrow 9-run victory over England and level the two-match series with 1-1 in the second ODI.


New Zealand scored 196-8 in the allotted 49 overs per a side - with top scorer by Andrew Jones cracked a 64 off 91-balls including three boundaries.

Ian Smith struck 28 off 40-balls including a four, Ken Rutherford scored 19 off 39-balls without a boundary and Chris Pringle hit a unbeaten 18 off 15-balls contained one-six & a four.

England best bowler by Angus Fraser picked up 3-wickets for 22-runs in 9-overs including a maiden, Phil Tufnell, Martin Bicknell both took 2-wickets and one for Phil DeFreitas.

England bowled out for 187 in 48 overs with top scorer by Graham Gooch struck 41 off 60-balls including 4-fours.

Robin Smith scored 38 off 65-balls including four boundaries, Allan Lamb struck 33 off 36-balls included 4-fours and Mike Atherton hit 26 off 61-balls contained 4-fours.

New Zealand best bowler by Chris Harris picked up 3-wickets for 33-runs in 10-overs, Chris Pringle captured three-wickets for 43-runs in 10-overs including a maiden and Debutant Chris Cairns - who took 2-wickets on his debut ODI match.

Andrew Jones named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored a 64 off 91-balls including three boundaries.
