Pakistan's 117-run win was their second largest victory by terms of runs in One-day international and also It is their second biggest win against Sri Lanka in ODIs, previous biggest win by 192-runs also against Sri Lanka at Nottingham in the inaugural 1975 World Cup. Saleem Malik became the fourth Pakistan batsman to scored five centuries in ODIs after Javed Miandad (7), Zaheer Abbas (7) and Ramiz Raja (5). 5 : Saleem Malik equalled a joint third most centuries hit for Pakistan in ODIs, jointly with Ramiz Raja. Saleem Malik became the first Pakistan batsman to scored three hundreds against Sri Lanka in ODIs. This is the fifth instance of Pakistan's two batsmen were scores of centuries or more runs in their innings in One-day international and It is their second such instance against Sri Lanka in ODIs. The only other such instance came against Sri Lanka at Adelaide in 1989-90 Benson & Hedges World Series.

Pakistan scored 271-4 in the allotted 40 overs with top scorer by Inzamam-ul-Haq cracked a career-best 117 off 103-balls - which was his 2nd ODI hundred and also his second century against Sri Lanka in ODIs.

Saleem Malik struck 102 off 108-balls - which was his 5th ODI hundred and his third century against Sri Lanka in ODIs - including five boundaries.

Javed Miandad scored 19 off 13-balls including 2-sixes with strike rate of 146.15 and Wasim Akram blasted a unbeaten 16 off 6-balls contained one-six & a four with strike-rate of 266.66.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Champaka Ramanayake took 2-wickets and one for Kapila Wijegunawardene.

Inzamam-ul-Haq named Player of the match for his brilliant superb batting performance to scored a career-best unbeaten 117 off facing 103-balls including 13-fours with strike rate of 113.59.

Dozens of people were injured when police clashed with angry cricket fans on Sunday as Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in the fifth one-day international.

Hundreds of ticket-holders were locked out of the stadium; non-holders had been allowed in.

They began hurling stones and police fired tear-gas to disperse them. The match was held up briefly when fumes spread; traffic around the ground was blocked for hours.

Several people burned stadium seats. Pakistan won the match by 117 runs to take the five-match series 4-1. Sri Lanka made only 154 runs in reply to Pakistan's 271.
